Careful counsel for the things you have built.

Harlow & Finch is a small firm for families, owners and neighbors. We explain the law in plain language, quote a fixed fee in writing, and see each matter through.

The firm

A worn leather armchair beside a lit brass lamp and green bookshelves in afternoon light

Most people meet a lawyer at a moment that matters: a first home, a new company, a parent growing older. Our work is to make that moment calm, clear and finished.

We keep the firm small on purpose. Every client works directly with an attorney, not a call queue, and the person who takes your first call is the person who signs your final letter.

We also believe nobody should have to guess what legal help will cost. For the work we do most often, the fee is fixed and printed on this page.

Practice areas

Three areas of law, practised closely.

Wills and estates

Put your wishes in order while it is easy to do, and give the people you love a clear path to follow.

  • Wills and codicils
  • Living trusts
  • Powers of attorney
  • Health care directives
  • Probate and estate administration

How we work

Four steps, and no surprises between them.

  1. A first conversation

Thirty minutes, in person or by phone. You explain what is on your mind and we listen. There is no charge and no obligation.

  2. A written plan and a fee

Within two working days you receive a short letter that sets out what we recommend, what it will cost and how long it should take.

  3. The work, explained as it goes

One attorney handles your matter from start to finish. Every draft arrives with a plain language summary, and calls are returned the same day.

  4. Signed, filed and kept safe

We sign together, file what needs filing, and hand you a bound copy. Originals stay in our fireproof vault at no cost.

Fees

Fixed fees for common matters.

For the work below, the price is the price. It covers our meetings, the drafting, one round of changes and the signing.

Court costs and recording charges are passed on at cost and listed in your letter before work begins. Anything more involved is quoted in writing first, as a fixed fee wherever we can.

Our promise

Nothing is signed until you understand every line.

Before any document reaches your pen, we walk through it together, page by page, in ordinary words. If a clause cannot be explained simply, it gets rewritten.

  • A one page summary with every draft
  • Calls and messages returned the same day
  • Originals stored in our vault at no cost

Consultation

Tell us what is on your mind.

Send a few details and we will reply within one working day to arrange a time. The first conversation is thirty minutes and costs nothing.
