New service

Web apps and client portals that fit your work.

A private tool that runs in the browser: a place where staff or customers sign in, see what belongs to them and get something done. We build it around the way your business already works, in accounts you own.

The short version

  • Scoped and quoted after a callThe price follows what the tool has to do, set out in a written scope.
  • Nothing to installIt opens in a browser on a phone, a tablet or a computer.
  • Private by sign inEach person sees only what their role allows.
  • Hosting and data in your nameThe accounts are yours, and we work through access you grant.

What you get

A tool built for one job.

Not software for everyone. One tool that does the thing your spreadsheet, inbox or paper form is doing badly today.

  • Secure sign in

Accounts for staff, customers or both, with roles that decide who can see and change what.

  • Screens for the real task

Lists, forms and detail pages designed around the steps your team actually takes, on a phone as well as a desk.

  • A dashboard that answers

The numbers and open items you check every day, on one page, drawn from the records in the tool.

  • Your data, stored properly

Records live in a database in your account, with a way to export them whenever you want.

  • Connections that are scoped

Email notices, payments, calendars or another system can be connected. Each connection is named and priced in the scope.

  • Handover and notes

You receive the source code and written notes on how the tool is hosted, how to add a user and how to get your data out.

How it works

From first call to handoff.

Nothing is built until the scope and the price are agreed in writing.

  1. A call about the job

You show us how the work is done today: the spreadsheet, the emails, the paper. We ask who uses it, what goes wrong and what the tool must do first.

  2. A written scope

We list the screens, the roles, the data it keeps and the systems it connects to, with one price. You approve the scope before anything is built.

  3. Design, then build

You see the screens as a clickable prototype and ask for changes. Then we build, and you try a private test version with your own examples.

  4. Launch and handoff

The tool goes live in your accounts. We add your first users with you and hand over the code and the notes.

Pricing

A written quote, before any work.

Priced on what the tool has to do, not on a package.

How the price is set

Scoped and quoted after a call.

A portal with a sign in and a few screens is a very different project from a tool that runs a whole workflow, so we quote each one. The price depends on the number of screens, the roles, how much data it keeps, and which other systems it must connect to. The written scope lists all of that, along with what you supply, what is left out and one price. If we think an existing product would serve you better than a custom build, we will say so on the call.

Good to know

  • Running costs are separate. Hosting, the database, email sending and any connected service bill you directly. We name each provider and its current plan before you agree.
  • You supply the rules. You know how the work should flow. We need a person who can explain it, answer questions and test with real examples.
  • Changes after launch are separate. New features, fixes outside the agreed scope and ongoing upkeep are billed at $75 per hour with an estimate agreed first.
  • Sometimes you should not build. If a product you can subscribe to already does the job well, that is usually the cheaper choice, and we will tell you.
  • What we do not build. Tools for health records or other regulated data, tools that move money on their own, and systems that must stay up around the clock with staff on call.

Hosting, the database and any connected service are billed to you directly by those providers.

Why it matters

Why it matters for your business.

  • One place for the work

The list, the status and the history live together instead of across an inbox, a spreadsheet and a notebook.

  • Customers help themselves

A portal lets a customer sign in and see their own details without calling to ask.

  • The right eyes only

Roles keep private records in front of the people who should see them and no one else.

  • Built to be owned

The code, the hosting and the data are yours, so the tool does not depend on us or on a monthly license.

Questions

Straight answers.

Something we did not cover? Ask us directly

What is a web app?

A website that does a job instead of only showing information. People sign in, enter or look up records and get something done, all in a browser. A client portal is a web app where your customers sign in to see what is theirs.

What does a web app cost?

We quote each one after a call, because the price follows the number of screens, the roles, the data and the connections to other systems. You get a written scope with one price before any work starts.

Have you built one for a client?

Not yet. This is a new service. The tools we can point to are our own: the private inbox that receives every inquiry from this website and the pricing tools we use, both behind a sign in. We show no client examples and make no claims about results.

What do we need to supply?

A clear description of how the work is done today, real examples to test with, a list of who needs access and what each person may see, and a person who can make decisions. You also open the hosting account in your name, or we set it up with you.

Where is our data kept, and can we get it out?

In a database in an account you own, with the provider named in the scope. The tool includes a way to export your records, and the handover notes explain how.

Can it connect to tools we already use?

Often, yes, when the other tool offers a way to connect. Each connection is checked, named and priced in the scope before we commit to it. See booking, payments and integrations

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. It runs in the browser on a phone, a tablet or a computer, with nothing to install. If you need something that sits on the home screen and uses the phone itself, look at an iPhone app. See iPhone apps

What happens after launch?

The tool is yours and keeps running in your accounts. When you want a change or a new feature, we estimate it first and bill it at $75 per hour. You can also take the code to another developer.

What is the spreadsheet doing badly?

Describe the job the tool should do and who would use it. We will tell you whether to build it or buy it, with the scope and the price in writing.
